Mrs. Gainor has been selected as a recipient of the 2003 Community Luminary Awards awarded by The DTE Energy Foundation and Michigan Nonprofit Association in commemoration of Detroit Edison’s 100th anniversary. The Community Luminary Awards will be presented to the 100 most exceptional nominees.
The award will include a $1,000 contribution to the winner's designated IRS 501(c)(3) charitable organization located in Michigan, a commemorative gift, and recognition at a private reception at the Roostertail Restaurant in Detroit on November 12, 2003.
Mrs. Gainor founded the Ailie Pearson Alternative Education Fund in memory of her 16 year old daughter who was killed in an automobile accident on March 2, 2001. Mrs. Gainor and her organization are dedicated to helping young people who do not qualify for tradition academic scholarships.
The Community Luminary Awards are awarded to individuals, not to teams or organizations.
These awards are an opportunity to recognize outstanding leaders and volunteers for their dedication and efforts in contributing to the development of Michigan communities and inspiring others around them. A cross section of established leaders as well as emerging community figures will be recognized.
The Community Luminary Awards are funded by the DTE Energy Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting programs that strengthen the fabric of our communities by developing the potential of their residents, institutions and infrastructure.

Mrs. Gainor was also selected as a recipient of the Sanilac County Silver Lining Award in recognition of her outstanding volunteer efforts in Sanilac County. Mrs. Gainor along with many other individuals was honored at a luncheon on October 22, at the Sandusky Centre in Sandusky, Michigan.
